DELFI / Kiril Čachovskij

Forman, a top-ranking member of US President Barack Obama’s administration, will visit the headquarters of the Jewish Community of Lithuania and meet with the team of the tolerance campaign Bagel Shop.

The meetings should address the Lithuanian showing on this year’s anti-Semitism index and the Non-Discriminatory Action Plan for 2015-2017, the Bagel Shop said.

Prior to the meeting, Forman will meet with leaders and members of the Lithuanian Jewish community. A day before it, he will also tour Kaunas and Šiauliai to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in former ghettos.

The latest Global Anti-Semitism Index has revealed that 36 percent of adults in Lithuania hold anti-Semitic views. Lithuania is ranked 40th among 102 countries in the world in terms of the prevalence of anti-Semitism, behind Latvia (28 percent) and Estonia (22 percent).

For nearly 15 years, Norman was the executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council.
