The decisions were made after a meeting with Interior Minister Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas on Friday, Butkevičius added.

“Decisions were taken immediately and instructions were given to the State Border Guard Service,” he said.

The prime minister said that he had not received any information that similar acts of provocation might take place in Lithuania.
“No, we didn’t have such information, but this example (in Estonia) was quite sufficient for us,” he said.

The Estonian Internal Security Service said that unidentified persons from Russia abducted its officer on Estonian territory near the Luhamaa border checkpoint 9 a.m. on Friday. The officer was performing his official duties related to cross-border crime prevention when he was abducted at gunpoint and taken across the border to Russia.
