Lithuanian, Angolan Foreign Ministers agree on political consultations

The document envisages periodic consultations in order to exchange views on international and bilateral matters of mutual interest. The two foreign ministers also discussed opportunities for expanding political, economic and energy cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said.

Linkevičius said that the signing of the memorandum could boost bilateral economic relations.

During the meeting, Lithuania’s foreign minister outlined briefly the current security situation in the Baltic Sea region and Lithuania’s engagement with peace and security issues in Africa. Angola was urged to issue faster export certificates for Lithuanian eggs and egg products to Angola, reads the press release.

In turn, the Angolan minister said that Angola’s legal framework for investment was improving rapidly, opening up opportunities for developing bilateral business ties. Angola’s foreign minister also expressed his willingness to cooperate in the fields of technology, food industry, trade in natural resources and tourism.

The two ministers also discussed opportunities for liquefied petroleum gas trade and bilateral priorities at the 5th Africa-EU Summit to be held in November 2017.
