Karoblis will take part in a conference co-organized in Washington by the Lithuanian Defense Ministry and the think-tank Atlantic Council.

He will also meet with members of the US Congress and representatives of the Pentagon during the visit, which will last until Friday, the Defense Ministry said.

Lithuania seeks that NATO beef up air defense capabilities in the region and ensure freer movement of troops across Europe.

The US role in NATO remains key, but some diplomats are worried about a growing confrontation between President Donald Trump and America’s European allies.
