“What took place in the Seimas was a political investigation of these processes. They used the material provided by intelligence and law-enforcement bodies. Therefore, this does not have any legal implications and is only a political opinion of the Seimas,” the president said in an interview aired by LRT Radio on Thursday.
It is important that concrete legal proposals be tabled to meet the expectations raised by the investigation, she said.
The Seimas approved the findings of the Committee on National Security and Defense‘s (NSGK) investigation, which lasted more than six months, on Tuesday.
The committee says in its conclusions that Russia‘s energy giant Rosatom and MG Baltic, one of Lithuania’s largest business groups, used non-transparent means to exert influence on political processes, thus posing a threat to the structure of the state and national security.
