The resolution was registered at the Secretariat of Plenary Sittings. Based on the project, the Parliament’s Anti-corruption Commission would be authorised to act as a temporary inquiry commission and carry out a parliamentary inquiry into transparency of tenders for public promotion services, the circumstances of acquisition of UAB Ministerium shares and activities of UAB Ministerium and public enterprise Socialiniai Partneriai.
The inquiry is being initiated seeking to determine how the company Ministerium and public enterprise Socialiniai Partneriai, together with other public relations companies, managed to win major government contracts for public promotion services. The son-in-law of Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, Evaldas Vaitašius, recently owned shares in UAB Minsiterium, while the prime minister’s public consultant Dalia Kutraitė-Giedraitienė was one of the founders of public company Socialiniai Partneriai.
The draft resolution proposes to have the commission answer 18 questions. The inquiry should be completed and findings submitted to Parliament by 15 March 2016.
Among the MPs who signed the draft resolution are mostly members of the opposition Liberal Movement and the conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, including opposition leader Andrius Kubilius.
