The reign of Laurynas Grigelis

Laurynas Grigelis
DELFI / Tomas Vinickas

Grigelis (23, ATP 322, Doubles 198) can already celebrate his doubles title. The Lithuanian partnered with another Lithuanian Lukas Mugevičius (20, ATP 580, doubles 366) and won the finals in a heroic match against the American Hunter Reese (22, ATP doubles 558) and his Latvian partner Mikelis Libietis (23, ATP 1876, doubles 619), which concluded with the score of 7-5, 3-6, [13-11].

But Grigelis will probably hold on with celebrations. Before the doubles finals, the Lithuanian played for the opportunity to appear in the singles finals. His rival was the third-seeded Spaniard Gerard Granollers-Pujol (26, ATP 355). In the match, that was the first for Grigelis with three sets in this tournament, both players searched for an opportunity to gain advantage. In the third set, the Lithuanian was the one who succeeded and won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

His opponent in the finals will be the Russian Ronald Slobodchikov (21, ATP 1047) who is showing a great performance and sent home in the semifinals the eight-seeded Pole Pawel Cias (21, ATP 722) in three set match 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(6).
