2 off-duty foreign troops get in conflict in central Lithuania

“We are aware of the fact that two soldiers (not wearing uniforms, off-duty) got into a conflict in Jonava on October 6. Both of the troops were from the same country, other persons were not involved, no damage was done,” the Armed Forces said in a comment to BNS forwarded by the Defense Ministry.

According to the message, military police of the country of the involved troops is conducting an inquiry. Institutions of Lithuania’s Armed Forces are not performing an investigation.

The ministry did not disclose the location or the circumstances of the incident, refusing to specify whether the soldiers were sober at the time of the incident.

Kaunas police told BNS that a pre-trial investigation had been launched but refused to elaborate any further, advising to turn to the Armed Forces.
