2015 was warmest year on record in Lithuania

Last year, the average air temperature in the country was 2.1 degrees higher than the average in the period 1961-1990, at 8.3 degree celsius.
The previous record was in 2008, when the average annual air temperature hit 8.2 degrees celsius.

Official data shows a consistent warming trend in Lithuania’s climate over the last decade.

Higher temperatures are being observed globally and are already affecting yields from Lithuania’s agriculture industry.
