A higher percentage was only reported in Bulgaria (40.4 pct), Romania (38.8 pct) and Greece (35.6 pct).

In Latvia, the share of the population at the poverty line was 28.5 percent, as compared with 24.4 percent in Estonia and the EU average of 23.4 percent.

According to the methods of the research, people whose income is under 60 percent of the national average are listed as risking poverty.
