Organizers say warm weather makes it impossible to hold the traditional horse race on the Lake Sartai, north-east Lithuania, which draws crowds every year.
“Organizers of the race and the accompanying festival were forced to make such an unpopular decision by the sudden change in weather,” Žilvinas Tomas Badikonis, director of Vilniaus Žirgynas, told DELFI. He added that relatively warm weather and rain melted the ice that was needed for the race.
Organizers have also decided that puddles would not allow to hold the traditional crafts fair or the planned music concert.
