Officials from the Customs Criminal Service nabbed the consignment in the district of Trakai, not far from Vilnius, as part of their ongoing investigation following the seizure of 2.5 million euros worth of smuggled cigarettes in the same district in early July.

The officials found 378,000 packs of Richman cigarettes and 61,000 packs of Brass after raiding a warehouse in a village in the district last week.

The cigarettes had no excise stamps, but preliminary information indicates that they were produced in the United Arab Emirates and China. The total market value of the cigarettes is estimated at 1.305 million euros.

Customs officials earlier this month seized a consignment of contraband Belarusian cigarettes, worth 2.58 million euros, in the same district.
