Borisovas, who now heads the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department, would replace Šarūnas Adomavičius who will be recalled as of Nov. 8 and will retire.
A journalist by education, Borisovas started working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989. Her briefly served as the foreign minister’s representative in Poland in 1991. Later on, Borisovas led the ministry’s diplomatic protocol service and was Lithuania’s consul general in Saint Petersburg and representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).
Meanwhile, Jūratė Raguckienė, the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s chancellor, has been proposed for ambassador to Croatia. She would assume the new office on Jan. 28.
Lithuania established its embassy in Zagreb in July and it be also accredited to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosov.
Raguckienė, a math teacher and lawyer by education, previously worked as an assistant to the Seimas chancellor and held various positions within the Ministry of National Defense. She also worked as a defense adviser at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Lithuania to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
She’s served as a chancellor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2013.
Moreover, Donatas Kušlys, head of the State and Diplomatic Protocol Department’s Presidential Protocol Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In Lithuania, ambassadors are appointed and dismissed by president upon nomination by the government and approval by the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.
