The State Food and Veterinary Service has been informed about the news by the representative of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission for the affairs of Latin America in Brussels.

A decision favourable for manufacturers of Lithuanian milk products was taken by officials of the International Relations Unit of Agricultural and Livestock Service of Chile after having examined documents on ensuring food safety and quality and the official control system in Lithuania and having agreed the provisions of export veterinary certificates.

“Chile is one of the largest and most prospective markets of Latin America, therefore, manufacturers of Lithuanian milk products have been since long ago interested in export possibilities to this country. I am pleased that the negotiations have been finally completed and we managed not only to agree the export documents for milk and milk products but also achieve an agreement that all the Lithuanian establishments, which have expressed their interest, are included in the list of establishments entitled to export to Chile,” says Dr Jonas Milius, the VMVT head.
