Christmas in Vilnius

The Cathedral Square Tree

The Christmas stalls around that tree and the one in from of the old City Hall (Rotušė) offer plenty of gift ideas. The tree in front of Rotušė is probably more old-fashioned, intimate, but the pods still look, one year on, as coming from another bright and colourful world. Just in time for Christmas.

Earlier this week a serious snow dusting provided a little extra touch that young and old like to see around at Christmas. Alas, the writer and photographer were seriously challenged when travelling through town, just a week too early to take in all of the seasonal magic.

Still inside the Hotel Kempinski, serious efforts are made to keep the crown of the finest indoor Christmas tree. The luxurious tree manages to mix magnificence with a tones of days gone by whilst some nutcrackers look on from the sidelines. No doubt, some of the rooms and the restaurant offer some of the best views on Cathedral square. Warm on the inside, cold, yet seasonal on the outside.

The tree seemed this year better enjoyed from space, or a drone perhaps. Still it looks all colourful with some dazzling looking lights and the perfect place for a selfie or a family picture.
