Marcinkevičius’ shares have been purchased by Bertona Holdings Limited, a company based in Cyprus and led by Diana Dominienė.

When asked about the purchase, Marcinkevičius named primarily personal reasons for selling off his stake.

“Every stage of life has a beginning and an end. For my wife, Eda, whom I want to thank for all of her patience and endurance in the history of our business, and I, the time has come to make this decision. I want to prepare for new challenges, which will require some concentration, and spend more time with our children than I could before. I definitely feel like I owe them that,” Marcinkevičius told Delfi.

Marcinkevičius sold his 15% stake in Vilniaus Prekyba group for an unnamed price.

Nerijus Numavičius, who founded the group together with Marcinkevičius and has become Lithuania’s wealthiest person, shared his thoughts on his partner’s departure.

“On the one hand, managing the group will become easier and more efficient. On the other hand, I am convinced that the group will sorely miss Žilvinas’ brilliant insights and ideas, and that we probably will not find a suitable replacement in the future,” said Numavičius.
