There are plans to launch a tender for service providers, who would perform research and would prepare a project over the continued maintenance of the hill.

Specialists say that the most problematic area of the hill is its Southeast slope near Sereikiškės Park. There are fears of new landslides in this area, which could be caused by shifting soil and the defensive wall that was rebuilt in the Soviet era, as well as the remaining upper palace of the castle.

Currently, temporary works are being performed and gravel is being poured at the landslide locations in order to protect the hill from damage by rainfall.

Meanwhile, the Northwest slope near the Neris river has been repaired and covered with a special turf. Specialists say that the slope is now resistant to water and freezing.

This summer there are plans to repair the platform atop the hill. Its paving should be replaced, making it less permeable to water.

So far, more than six million euro has been spent on hill repairs.
