The Interior Ministry, which has proposed changes to the Interinstitutional Action Plan for Public Security Development for 2015-2025, told BSN the plan was being reviewed in light of the current situation, with more attention planned on measures against human trafficking and border protection.

For instance, the efforts to create a safer environment will involve a spending of 300,000 euros on police vehicles responding to reports.

In an effort to reduce terrorism threats, the State Security Department should develop and electronic information monitoring and analysis system, which would ensure efficient prevention of terrorist deeds. Some 576,000 euros are earmarked for the purpose next year, in addition to further 187,000 euros in 2018 and 1.758 million euros in 2019.

Over 11.6 million euros are planned for all areas in connection to protection of the European Union’s (EU) external border next year.
