Pačėsas is currently serving as member of the municipal council of Alytus, southern Lithuania.

“Our objectives today are modest, we care about regional politics, regional cooperation, we want it to become more intense and simpler, with attention to everyone’s thoughts, strives, and the work should be closer and more productive,” he told journalists in Alytus.

The association For Lithuania was established by a Pačėsas-led movement For Alytus, Druskininkai Mayor Ričardas Malinauskas-led association For Druskininkai and an organization led by Lazdijai Mayor Artūras Margelis.

The Malinauskas-led movement is mainly comprised of people who split from the Social Democratic Party a few years ago, while the Margelis’ organization includes former members of the conservatives.

The two politicians were elected as deputy chairmen of the movement For Lithuania, which plans to cooperate in the 2019 elections to local governments and mayors.

Founders say it includes around 700 members.
