“Important to continue fulfill Crimea’s annexation non-recognition policy with substance. This a right move at a right time in the right direction,” Linkevičius tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the European Unions announced its decision to add six entities involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge, officially opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin in May and connecting the illegally annexed Crimea to Russia, to sanctions list.

The measures consist of an asset freeze, meaning that all of the assets in the EU belonging to these entities are frozen and EU persons and entities cannot make any funds available to them, the EU said.

Two of the six companies belong to Arkady Rotenberg, Putin’s close ally.
