Masiulis, who resigned from the leadership of his party and gave up his seat in parliament once the news about the investigation broke in May, was extensively questioned on Friday as well, when he spent 11 hours with prosecutors.

The politician, who is suspected of influence peddling and bribery, has pledged to speak about the case publicly once he is done giving evidence to investigators.

Masiulis is suspected of taking a €106,000 bribe from the vice president of MG Baltic, one of Lithuania’s biggest business groups, in exchange for “decisions favourable and financially beneficial” to the company.

Suspicions have been also brought against Raimondas Kurlianskis, the vice president of MG Baltic, and Labour Party MP Vytautas Gapšys, who is suspected of having accepted a €25,000 bribe.
