Four Lithuanian state institutions under attack from hackers

Rimtautas Černiauskas, director of the Cyber Security Centre, says that hackers targeted the websites of the Lithuanian Parliament, the President’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Justice.

These institutions are not equally equipped to handle hacker attacks, according to him.

“Some of them handled the attacks very well, the attacks were under control. This depended on the services the institutions had purchased,” Černiauskas told journalists at the parliament on Wednesday.

“As of today, another institution subjected to a few hours of a DDoS attack was the Justice Ministry. According to the information I have received, its website is back to normal,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Seimas website is still unavailable to foreign users.

In Černiauskas’ words, one technical malfunction was reported on Monday, causing interrupted operations of a few websites.
