Evelina Gudzinskaitė, head of the Migration Department, told the national radio LRT that Lithuania made the commitment to accept over 1,000 refugees but there are no more asylum seekers matching the country’s requirements in Greece and Italy, therefore, the quota won’t be met.

There are still requirement-matching refugees in Turkey, thus, four people will be relocated to Lithuania.

The majority of people relocated to Lithuania are Syrians, and others include citizens of Iraq and Eritrea.

All in all, 486 asylum seekers have been relocated to Lithuania since 2015 but the majority of them have left for other European countries, with around 150 people still living in Lithuania.
