“It’s a great joy to receive you all here,” Ambassador Berniau addressed the crowd, which included dignitaries from Lithuanian politics, business and culture as well as from foreign diplomatic corpse, on Monday night. “Today, in the traditional military parade in Paris, Lithuanian soldiers carried tricolours of your country in the presence of the minister of defence of Lithuania. To commemorate the centenary of World War One, France invited 80 countries to take part in the military parade in Paris and Lithuania agreed to join.”
Bastille Day festivities back in Vilnius included live music and treats in the best French taste, yet the highlight of the party was arguably two French military jets Mirage making circles above the ambassador’s residence and stunning the guests with deafening roar.
