Government asks for ratification of Rail Baltica deal

The government will now ask the president to submit the document to the Seimas for ratification.

According to the government’s press release, the aim is to implement the Rail Baltica project by 2025.

“This is a key infrastructure project for all three Baltic countries; therefore, it is necessary to plan both EU financial support and national co-financing to ensure that all works are carried out according to the timetable,” Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said in the press release.

Latvia ratified the agreement in May and Estonia did so in late June after intensive discussions.
