When his plane crossed into Lithuania’s territory, the Greek leader instructed the crew to contact Lithuanian air traffic controllers and ask them to forward a message to Grybauskaitė.

“While flying over the Republic of Lithuania, I would like to extend Your Excellency my words of greeting and sincerest wishes for your personal happiness as well as for the welfare and prosperity of the friendly people of Lithuania,” Pavlopoulos said.

The audio recording was provided to BNS by Grybauskaite’s press office.

Pavlopoulos in July postponed his scheduled visit to Lithuania due to wildfires in his country. A new date for his visit is yet to be fixed.
