Half Lithuanian drivers ignore rules une using phones while driving

The survey included over 9,000 Lithuanian drivers.

According to the results of the survey, 50.3 percent of the drivers use telephones without handsfree equipment while driving, while every tenth (10.4 percent) of the polled drivers violates the rule nearly every time they drive.

The survey conducted by Lietuvos Draudimas has also revealed that this practice is most often observed among drivers aged 26-35, while drivers over 56 rarely use non-handsfree telephones while driving.

In general, men (58.1 percent) tend to violate the rule more often than women (39.3 percent).

According to the data of the police, last year, 24,000 drivers were fined for talking on the phone and driving.
