Holidaymakers at Lithuanian coast resort injured amidst strong winds

Jonas Piroznikas, head of the lifeguard service in the resort of Palanga, told BNS that sudden strong winds lasted two minutes and raised several objects, including a trampoline, up to 7-8 meters in the air.

According to the lifeguard, one girl was seriously injured and taken for intensive care to a hospital in Klaipėda. A man suffered a concussion and a woman fractured her ribs.

The wind died down just as suddenly as it started. Piroznikas says such phenomena at the seaside and in the sea happen under extremely hot weather conditions and can hardly be anticipated or prepared for.
