Interior Ministry cancels competition for new financial crimes agency chief

Eimutis Misiūnas

The competition involving two applicants was canceled early this week. The competition was announced after expiry of the term of the agency’s earlier chief Kestutis Jucevicius before it was clear whether the government would decide to bring changes to the Financial Crime Investigation Service.

Last week, the government decided to propose amendments to have the FNTT chief appointed by the government after proposal from the interior minister without a competition.

Both Misiunas and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis have said that FNTT should be restructured. Merger with the Customs Criminal Service is among the options of restructuring.
