“There is a tremendous amount of work to do both at the Seimas and the government. But what is most important is to lead our part to a victory in local elections,” Karbauskis said after his re-election as the party’s leader for another two years.
Karbauskis attributed the fact that he was the only candidate for the post of chairman to the party’s successful performance in last October’s parliamentary elections.
The LPGU, which has over 4,000 members, won 56 seats in the 141-member Seimas. It holds the post of prime minister and the majority of ministerial portfolios.
