“We are considering extension of cooperation of the interparliamentary assembly,” Polish Sejm Speaker Marek Kuchcinski told journalists in Warsaw.
In his words, the assembly could include a committee in charge of the matters of Lithuania’s Polish community and the Lithuanian community in Poland.
Amid accusations against Lithuania over poor condition of the Polish national minority, Poland held no top-level visits to Lithuania in the past five years. The Warsaw tone has lately become milder.
“We need to draw wise conclusions from the past to be able to create a better future,” said Kuchcinski.
Lithuania’s Parliamentary Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis told journalists that the restored assembly would help solve practical matters without having to wait for high-level meetings.
Lithuanian and Polish MPs currently have a three-country assembly with Ukraine.
