Lithuania ranks 35th out of 133 nations on Social Progress Index

The country was at number 32 last year.

Estonia is the highest-ranked Baltic country this year at number 23 and Latvia is in the 33rd position. Lithuania is also outperformed by Poland, in 27th place, but is well ahead of Belarus and Russia, that are ranked 66th and 71st, respectively.

The top three countries in the world this year are Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

The index, published by the non-profit Social Progress Imperative, is based on more than 50 indicators measuring basic human needs, well-being and opportunities.
