The Defence Ministry told BNS that the new propeller would cost nearly 554,000 euros (excluding VAT), while other repairs should add another 140,000 euros.

“As the propeller was damaged and could not be repaired, a decision was taken to replace it,” the ministry said in a response to BNS.

In March, the Spartan lost balance at the Šiauliai aviation base due to a gust of wind and crashed into the runway. News report of the LNK commercial TV channel said the incident damaged the propeller, the rear end of the wing and the body, which made the airplane unfit for flight.

According to the statement, Spartan repairs are scheduled for January. The repairs will be conducted by Italian engineering company Leonardo S.p.A.
