The foreigners had to change their route and go to Mauritania, the State Border Guard Service said.

A late-night check of passengers on a flight from Moscow revealed that seven Ukrainian citizens and 19 Russian citizens did not have the necessary documents to legally enter Lithuania. The Russians had arrived without mandatory visas, while the Ukrainians produced non-biometric passports. Citizens of Ukraine can only enter the European Union (EU) visa-free with biometric documents only.

In early hours of Tuesday, the entire group of 26 Russian and Ukrainian citizens left for Nuadibu, Mauritania, on a charter flight.
