A Eurolines coach featuring a Happy Birthday, Latvia! sign in Latvian and the Restored Lithuania 100 logo left Vilnius for Riga on Friday morning, the Lithuanian government’s office said.
“Next year, Lithuania will celebrate the centennial of the restoration of the state and Latvia will celebrate the centenary of its statehood. This year, we are sending a Centennial Thank You video and a simple but sincere traveling greeting to the Latvians on the eve of the 99th anniversary of independence,” Neringa Vaisbrode, coordinator of Lithuania’s Centenary Program, said in a press release.
The first festive coach departed for Riga at 10 a.m. on Friday and two more are scheduled to leave on Saturday, at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. On their arrival in the Latvian capital, passengers will hear congratulatory messages from well-known Lithuanians.
The coach will deliver a special gift and Centennial Thank You greetings to the organizers of Latvia’s centenary events.
