Minister of Justice Juozas Bernatonis
DELFI / Šarūnas Mažeika

The guest was informed that the Ministry of Justice is responsible for forming the policy of industrial intellectual property protection, while the State Patent Bureau under the ministry is responsible for the implementation of the policy.

The Ministry of Justice has indicated that one of the priorities is to expand electronic services, thus, the State Patent Bureau is actively developing electronic services related to the industrial intellectual property protection. Accessibility to electronic services is highly relevant when implementing international treaties on patents, trademarks or design registration that are administered by the WIPO and actively used by creators of intellectual property around the globe.

The ministry has noted that throughout more than 20-years of membership in the WIPO Lithuania has ratified most of multilateral conventions administered by the organisation and has been successfully implementing their provisions.
