Ambassadors from other 27 EU member states accredited to Lithuania met with President Dalia Grybauskaite earlier in the day and the Dutch ambassador to Lithuania Bert van der Lingen, whose country is currently holding the rotating EU presidency, said the other members of the EU were determined to remain united.

“I think we are united. It’s not a question of trying to find the differences, but to try to find the common issues on which all of us have agreed on. It is the essence of being European — to try to find solutions in the common aim we have,” said Bert van der Lingen, whose country is currently holding the rotating EU presidency, Vilnius.

“This resolve is still very much present in the 27 (EU) capitals,” he said after the meeting.
