Lithuanian and London police cooperate on investigation into human trafficking

Members of the group are suspected to have sexually exploited young women taken to the UK from Lithuania and also organized and made profit from their sham marriages with third country citizens, Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat said.

The crimes are qualified as human trafficking in both countries. As the crime exceeded the jurisdiction of one country, Lithuania’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office, the UK Crown Prosecution Service and Metropolitan Police signed an agreement in May on the establishment of a jointed investigation group.
