Lithuanian customs officers find over 100 kg of hashish in Russian’s car

A Cadillac CTS, driven by a Russian national identified by his initials M. M., was pulled over by a Kaunas territorial customs patrol last Thursday night.

The Russian man said that he was on a trip around Europe with his wife and two young children, but the customs officers found his behavior suspicious and decided to have the car X-rayed at the Kybartai checkpoint.

A total of 106 kilograms of hashish with an estimated street value of around 1 million euros were found in hidden compartments under the floor and in the rocker panels of the car.

The man was detained for two months and faces 10 to 15 years in prison.

His wife was questioned and allowed to return home to Russia together with her two children.
