According to the director general of Nord Pool Spot, the integration of the Lithuanian market, after the power cable to Sweden is laid and the electricity connection with Poland is constructed, will facilitate market compatibility. This means that electricity markets of different countries will become closer.

The minister of energy said that when new electricity connections NordBalt and LitPol Link become operational by the end of 2015, Lithuania will be at the crossing where five power markets of the Baltic States, Poland, the Baltic Region, Belarus and Russia connect. “Effectively functioning infrastructure and transparent market rules will provide new opportunities to increase competition in the region,” said Minister Masiulis.
