“The past two decades of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel have been marked by dynamic and constantly expanding contacts in political, economic, cultural and educational spheres. I strongly hope that the newly opened Israeli embassy in Vilnius will further our cooperation, creating new opportunities for interaction,” President Dalia Grybauskaitė said in her message of congratulation to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.

Grybauskaitė wished her Israeli counterpart continued health and strength as well as peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of Israel.

According to the Lithuanian president, a collaborative relationship between Lithuania and Israel based on the spirit of friendship and shared understanding has allowed the two people to get to know increasingly more about each other, individually and as nations, and to engage in the development of mutually beneficial projects.

Congratulating Israel and its people on Independence Day, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius also wished them peace, security, prosperity, and well-being.

“On behalf of the people of Lithuania and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, I would like to extend our sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel. Lithuania highly appreciates the close relations with Israel. I am convinced that by pooling our efforts, ideas and creativity, we can achieve more benefits for the future of our two countries,” Butkevičius said in his letter of congratulation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
