Lithuanian president, Valančiūnas open adolescent day center

The center will provide assistance to youngsters with behavioral and emotional problems. It will be the first institution of this kind in Lithuania, where problematic children will be provided with specialist assistance in a friendly environment.

“I am very glad that the ambassador of my campaign For a Safer Lithuania (Valančiūnas – BNS Lithuania) has kept his promise and opened a school for difficult children who need attention. And through sports, discipline and hard work that sports needs, he will help children to feel needed and find a second home,” the president said during the opening ceremony.

According to the president, the center will provide psychological help and catering and it will be funded by Valančiūnas. The day center will accept 12 children.

The Lithuanian president also paid attention to the fact that over 250 new day center have been opened in Lithuania for children from problematic families over the past two and a half years.

All in all, 338 day center for children operate in Lithuania, attended by almost 10,000 children. But another 120 centers are needed for all 18,500 children included into risk groups to be able to attend them.
