Lithuanian soldier suddenly passes away of pancreatitis during training in Italy

According to preliminary information, Italian doctors had diagnosed him with pancreatitis before he passed away in Latina Santa Maria Goretti in Latina, central Italy, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said.

The sergeant had started a three-week NATO computer network operator course on July 16.

During the training, the 42-year-old troop fell ill on Wednesday and turned to local doctors, he was hospitalized after a medical examination.

Procedures to deliver his body to Lithuania have been initiated.
