In its May 3 ruling, which is final and not subject to appeal, the court dismissed an appeal lodged by the cable TV operator Init against the suspension of the retransmission of RTR Planeta and other versions of the channel.
The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) last February imposed the one-year suspension on RTR Planeta for distributing content inciting to war and hatred.
Init contested the LRTL decision in a court, saying that it placed a disproportionate restriction on its right to engage in commercial activities.
The supreme court on May 3 upheld the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court’s ruling that the regulator had sufficient grounds to suspend the retransmission over violations.
LRTK in late January slapped the cable TV operator with a fine of 150,000 euros for retransmitting Rossiya RTR, a version of the Russian channel.
