Lithuanians back alcohol ad ban, disapprove of specialized stores – poll

Fifty-one percent of respondents said they approved of a complete ban on alcohol advertising, 66 percent backed the proposal to make it illegal to sell alcoholic drinks to anyone under the age of 20 and 46 percent favored further restrictions on the alcohol sale hours.

Fifty-three percent of those polled disapproved of a ban on selling alcoholic drinks at festivals and other public events, 50 percent did not back the idea of specialized stores for alcoholic beverages and 65 percent did not support a hike in alcohol prices.

The pollster Vilmorus carried out the opinion poll at its own initiative between May 5 and 13.
