Lithuanians take care of their arrears before euro adoption

DELFI / Valdas Kopūstas

Customers of almost all banks operating in Lithuania managed to reduce their arrears, shows the data of credit bureau Creditinfo. However, debt to telecommunications, leasing and consumer credit companies increased slightly but had no significant effect on the overall changes of the portfolio.

People’s arrears have been decreasing since autumn, in September they totalled LTL 3.62 billion (EUR 1.05 billion), whereas in October decreased to LTL 3.57 billion (EUR 1.03 billion). When calculating arrears Creditinfo takes into account people’s debt for telecommunications, electricity, utility, insurance, cable TV and other services.
