Lithuania’s social security minister says she will not resign despite opposition’s calls

Algimanta Pabedinskienė

Before a sitting of the Government, the social security minister said she had no intention to step down. She said the Liberal Movement was not sufficiently well informed about the performance of her ministry and did not assess the actual work accomplished by it.

The Liberal Movement raised doubts about Pabedinskienė’s qualification to run the ministry back in January 2015. Eligijus Masiulis, chairman of the Liberal Movement, claims that all other forms of parliamentary control of the ministry have been exhausted and interpellation is left as the only available option.
