LNG terminal is properly guarded, Lithuanian interior minister reassures

“I believe proper measures have been taken and today everything is being done. We can say that security measures match all requirements,” the minister told BNS on Wednesday, attending a meeting of the parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defence in Klaipėda.

Arvydas Vaitkus, director of the port of Klaipėda, said the management was giving a lot of attention to the LNG terminal‘s security.

“We have terminals that are not as guarded as the LNG terminal. It is top-secure, compared to others, as its security involves the latest technology. The ship itself was built using the latest technical advancements and such ships are very secure,” Vaitkus told journalists.

According to Skvernelis, around 30 people are now guarding the terminal, and the number might rise to as many as 50.
