“I saw prosecutors this week. I officially denied the suspicions brought against me. I will provide an update on my further steps later,” Masiulis said on Facebook.

In early May, Lithuania’s law-enforcement bodies said they were investigating allegations that Masiulis took a payment of about €100,000 from MG Baltic vice-president Raimondas Kurlianskis.

Lithuania’s Special Investigations Service said earlier this week that it suspected Kurlianskis of also attempting to influence members of the Labour Party via its member Vytautas Gapsys to act for the company’s benefit in exchange for payments.
