MG Baltic’s ex-exec tells court he loaned EUR 90,000 to former Liberal leader

“I personally lent 90,000 euros to Masiulis,” Kurlianskis told the Vilnius Regional Court as he gave testimony in a major political corruption trial.

He said he had never asked how exactly the money would be used.

The defendant told the court that he had regarded Masiulis as a progressive liberal, adding that the former lawmaker had been invited to programs on LNK TV, a channel then headed by Kurlianskis, as frequently as other politicians.

Kurlianskis, the first defendant in the case to testify before the court, is charged with giving, directly and indirectly, bribes to Masiulis, as well as to Šarūnas Gustainis, former Liberal MP, and Vytautas Gapšys, a former leader of the Labor Party, to push through decisions favorable to the business group.
